Azorra is seeking a Vice President – Risk to join our growing team of passionate and dedicated professionals.
Company Description
Azorra is a relationship-driven commercial aircraft lessor, providing lease, financing, and asset management solutions with a focus on regional, crossover and small narrowbody aircraft. Our team is led by industry veterans with a shared history of success and a wealth of experience in aircraft leasing. We have the financial backing of funds managed by Oaktree Capital Management L.P. The Company is headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and has an office in Dublin, Ireland.
Key Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly motivated Vice President – Risk to join our team. Reporting to the Senior Vice President – Investments Strategy & Risk, and working closely with the commercial, marketing, and finance teams, the Vice President – Risk will be based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida (or Dublin, Ireland). The role carries direct responsibility for credit analysis, portfolio monitoring, and risk oversight across Azorra’s lessee base and transaction pipeline and will expand as the company and team grow. The role is supported by a Senior Analyst, Risk.
- Provide financial and credit analysis in support of new asset acquisitions and lease transactions — evaluating risk parameters, pricing, and risk-adjusted returns, and presenting structuring alternatives with well-reasoned mitigants to inform deal decisions
- Maintain current, independent credit views on all active and prospective lessees — including written assessments of financial condition, market position, and competitive dynamics, and coordination with relevant internal teams on regulatory or compliance-driven changes impacting counterparties — with the ability to rank and prioritize counterparties within their respective markets
- Monitor market conditions for developing credit signals, sector dislocations, and emerging risks, and translate observations into practical recommendations
- Provide risk input to the VP – Asset Strategy on airline and asset exposure to support sell, transition, or extend decisions
- Support Azorra’s engagement on distressed and restructuring credits — including collections, on-site customer visits, and coordination with legal counsel — representing Azorra’s interests professionally and effectively
- Coordinate the risk approval workflow for new transactions — ensuring required approvals are obtained, final documentation is complete and filed, and the process runs on schedule.
- Prepare and present credit and risk materials for senior leadership and Oaktree, including new transaction approvals and periodic portfolio and macro updates — grounded in the analysis behind the presentation
- Perform ad hoc research as needed, including aircraft and air travel supply and demand, aircraft values and lease rates, airline business model trends, new markets, and competitor analysis
- Frequent international travel will be required, often on short notice
Professional Qualifications
- Minimum five years of financial and aviation experience, preferably with an airline, lessor, investment bank, accounting firm or rating agency
- Strong credit and financial statement analysis skills — comfortable going deep into financials and identifying the key drivers and risks
- Solid understanding of macroeconomics and how broader demand, fuel, FX, and geopolitical dynamics transmit into airline-level credit
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel and PowerPoint); familiarity with AI and LLM tools (e.g., Copilot) and an interest in applying new analytical capabilities.
- This role operates in a fast-moving, transaction-driven environment. Timelines can be tight, work hours are not always predictable, and the expectation is that analysis gets done correctly and on time, with a high degree of ownership and follow-through
- Organized and thorough — produces work that can be shared confidently with internal stakeholders and counterparties, with minimal rework
- Strong written and verbal communication — specifically, the ability to translate detailed financial and credit analysis into clear, concise outputs for audiences ranging from bankers and airline CFOs to internal leadership without aviation credit backgrounds
- Collaborative team player — works effectively across commercial, finance, marketing, and legal, with a focus on shared outcomes and smooth workflows
- Intellectually curious; comfortable digging into the details and turning analysis into clear conclusions
- Bachelor’s degree required; CFA, MBA, or professional accounting qualification a plus but not a prerequisite
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Fluency in English required; we are in an international business and languages other than English are a plus
